So, one reason of doing goal pace runs is to make sure that you are able to run even splits during the race. So you know how fast to go and don't burn out early. Or that you realize afterwards that you should have pushed it a bit more.
There is another good reason for goal pace sessions. If you are uncertain about whether you'll be able to hold your pace until the end, then you can test yourself during training.
Suppose you want to do a 10K in 40 minutes. If you have severe troubles when performing a 5K in 20 minutes in your training, then you have got to wonder...
A race usually brings out a little extra in you. But when you can't run half the distance in goal pace your goal is probably a bit too ambitious.
So the second reason for goal pace running is to find out whether you are ready for your goal race or not.
Goal pace sessions for different distances
When you are training for shorter distances upto 10K, your goal pace sessions are different from when you are training for longer distances (half or full marathon).
Intervals, Time Trials and Test Races at goal pace are all great for races upto 10K.
When you are training for the half or the full marathon, you are better off doing a prolonged effort of part of the race distance at goal pace.
A variation to this is to first do a part at easy pace and then do a number of miles at goal pace.

This day is just as important to them as their children. Plus, they are usually the one paying the bill! FLOWER GIRLS, RING BEARERS AND JR. BRIDES AND GROOMS are cute, adorable, and BEST OF ALL, unpredictable. And they are also VERY YOUNG. These moments often set their wedding video apart from everyone else's. They are not part of the ESSENTIALS, but they add alot of character, fun and tender family moments.
No VIDEOGRAPHER would miss THE BRIDE; she is the centerpiece of the video AND THE ENTIRE DAY. Keep in mind at this point, the seats are filled with family friends straining to get a glimpse of the beautiful bride. Please be respectful and try to stay out of the way. And if the bride and groom paid for a PROFESSIONAL VIDEO, you should be mindful of the videographer. The soon-to-be newlyweds didn't pay to see the back of your head twenty years from now.
2. THE CEREMONY
Whether a low key affair or a traditional wedding, the officiant can take the ceremony in many directions. If it is at all possible, try to have a word with the officiant first, to get an idea what he/she will be doing and it's helpful to them to know who you are. These officiants are professional men and women with a lot of experience. I think you'll find most of them easy to work with if you keep your distance. I find it best to lay back and enjoy the services.
A STATIONARY CAMERA set up at a distance is an ideal set-up. And a good microphone should pick up all of the couple's words. You can get an OMNIDIRECTIONAL MICROPHONE from many sites on the web. The couple could have written their own vows, there could be a special religious portion of the ceremony or perhaps there is a remembrance of a loved one who is no longer with us, the Stationary camera will capture it all. There is, however, one moment you must capture--
3. THE RING
This one is a tough shot to get. My advice to you non-professionals out there is to arrive early and find out where the couple will be standing, maybe bring a friend to stand in the spot where you believe the two will exchange rings. Pick a spot where you have a clear shot and wait for the moment to happen!
I know I'm stressing how important this shot is. If you can't get it, it's not the end of the world. That doesn't mean if the Bride's back is to you and Aunt Fanny stood up with her disposable camera and blocked your view, it is NEVER, EVER OK to jump on the altar, run into the aisle or push kids out of the way to get the shot. Remember, everyone is there to see the ceremony, not you jumping around and distracting everyone. Be discreet. Can't stress that enough. 4. THE INTRODUCTION OF THE WEDDING PARTY
Now is the time to loosen up. Now is the time people will expect you to run on the dance floor with your camera rolling, especially if it's a high energy fun party! Some weddings won't have a PROFESSIONAL MASTER OF CEREMONIES introducing the wedding party; some may have a banquet manager of family member introducing the party. Either way, this is a great opportunity to see everyone in their dresses and tuxedos in a more casual climate. Trust me, it s better when everyone is relaxed walking in. Try to hype them up before they enter the room! Tell them to play to the crowd. It's not everyday everyone is together and dressed to the nines! Show them off!
5. THE FIRST DANCE
This typically happens right after the introduction but sometimes will come after dinner. It's the first time the couple will dance with each other in public as HUSBAND AND WIFE! It's a nice touch of romance and music for you wedding video! Remember, don't get up to close. That's why there is a zoom button. Let them have their moment but capture it from a distance! This is also a GREAT TIME to turn the camera on the crowd, get people's reactions, especially family members and close friends. Often they are feeling emotional due to the joy of the occasion and their reactions will add heart to your video! Also, keep rolling if there are any dances involving the COUPLE AND THEIR PARENTS!
6. THE TOAST
When someone grabs a microphone and starts talking about their best buddy finally settling down or their sister growing up into a beautiful woman on her wedding day, the toasts can be humorous, touching and sentimental or down right disastrous! Not every BEST MAN or MATRON OF HONOR is typically a public speaker and standing in front of a big crowd of family and friends can be a bit overwhelming. It's a good idea to let them know to speak directly to the BRIDE AND GROOM and speak directly from their hearts, and that helps to ease the process. Don't get in their face. You want a shot of the person giving the speech as well as the BRIDE and GROOM'S reaction to the toast.
7. CAKE CUTTING
This time honored tradition can be a sweet as the cake they are cutting or resemble the food fight scene from "Animal House". Either way, beware of flying pastry!
8. BOUQUET AND GARTER
Another tradition of weddings is the tossing of the BOUQUET to an eager bachelorette or the throwing of the GARTER to an eligible BACHELOR. This is often preceded by the GROOM removing the Garter from the Bride's leg. We break it down this way!

THE BACHELORETTES HIT THE FLOOR ("GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN")

We end with the Bachelorette who caught the bouquet getting the Garter placed on her leg by the Bachelor who caught the Garter. I personally like to "U Can't Touch This" and I add a little bit of a comic twist which really gets the crowd involved! This is video gold and you should mine it for all the fun and good memories this moment will create.
9. THE BRIDE AND GROOM LEAVE
Some receptions end with the BRIDE AND GROOM leaving amidst a flurry of rice, bird seed or bubbles. A good spot to stand back and record is near the limousine or car the COUPLE will be driving off in. Again, you want to steer clear from being an obstacle for any of the wedding party or the drivers and especially any PHOTOGRAPHERS trying to get any last minute shots of the happy couple.
If there are any decorating plans of the vehicle before the COUPLE exits, some footage of that can be really funny, capturing the culprits and they write, draw and hang things off the car! There's a nice way to send off our Newlyweds into the rest of their lives!
10. WELL WISHES
One bit of video I enjoy shooting is the well wishes from FAMILY & FRIENDS. This can be done throughout the evening during dinner, outside the ballroom or outside of the venue. A simple request to people to wish the COUPLE well in their lives is a nice touch, allows the family and friends to participate in the video and will provide years of good feelings as the COUPLE watches their videos and remembers the sentiments and good feelings generated by their loved ones on their most special of days!
This may be just a brief outline for what you want to capture to make your video the BEST AND MOST PROFESSIONAL, and can be used as a guideline for what you need to shoot. Remember, if you are going to shoot the video yourself, stay discreet, get your shots and remember extra batteries and microphones!

Your success depends on you knowing things such as which makes and models are the best to ‘flip‘ for good profits, where to find and buy them at bargain prices, how to negotiate with sellers and buyers, and how to advertise effectively. Learn as much as you can, take a methodical approach, and you can quite easily average a few hundred dollars‘ profit on each lower-priced car you ‘flip‘ and a few thousand dollars on higher priced models.
What you need to know
You don’t have to have a lot of mechanical knowledge to sell cars for cash, but you do need to know the value of cars. It’s best to focus on vehicles that are in reasonable demand, and to make sure you get them at the right prices. As with investing in real estate, when you buy and sell cars your profit is actually made when you buy. In other words, the less you pay for the car the more you will make when you sell it.
How to get started
If you’re interested in buying and selling cars for profit, start learning about your market. Look at classified ads, attend auto auctions, check online and even look on dealers’ lots. Note which makes and models appear to be popular, and get an idea of what prices are like on those ones. Compare prices between private sales, dealers and auctions, and make notes.
You want to learn what you can potentially sell a given model for, so you know how much to offer when you find one for sale. When considering what to offer on a vehicle, used car pricing guides (the “blue book” and the like) can be used as references, but keep in mind that some only show inflated retail prices. This is a great reference for you as a seller, but as a buyer you want to know the car’s “trade-in” or wholesale value. Some of the used car pricing guides list trade-in prices as well as retail prices.
Once you get a good idea of your local market, you can start looking for deals. We also highly recommend that you find someone who is already doing this profitably. Take them out for lunch, find out what they do and how they got started, and pick their brain for tips and advice. Perhaps he or she will even mentor you on your first few deals.
Learn as much as you can on your own as well. There are a variety of books, courses and other materials available on buying and selling cars for profit – take advantage of them. Considering that you can sell cars for cash part-time and still make thousands of dollars, not to mention a lucrative full-time income, it’s worth spending a few bucks on some training. It could be worth thousands in additional profits!
It’s a good time to get into the business!
You can buy and sell cars profitably in any economic climate, but a fluctuating economy (such as the present one) can yield some definite opportunities for you.
For example, people whose financial situations are uncertain often decide to sell their vehicles to get spendable cash as quickly as possible. These motivated sellers provide you with a good range of vehicles to choose from, usually at discount asking prices.
Motivated sellers can usually be talked down even further. It’s entirely possible to pick up a good vehicle for less than 50% of its resale value, and 65%-70% is common. You then resell the cars that you picked up at a substantial discount to new buyers for a lesser discount. The difference between the prices – minus taxes and transfer fees – is your profit!
Don’t worry about being able to sell your purchases: there are always people looking for well-priced vehicles and as long as you choose the right models and get them at the right prices, you’ll find buyers.
Your seller can also be your buyer!
In some situations you can even buy and sell to the same person. Consider the following example: a fairly well-off seller has to sell his BMW (worth $55,000) to cover some debts caused by the fluctuating stock market. He’s only asking $50,000 because he needs a quick sale. You offer him $47,500 and he accepts.
Now this seller needs a vehicle, perhaps in the $20,000 range this time. You just happen to have access to a nice older-model BMW in that price range (which you can pick up for $15,000) and you offer it to him at $20,000. He accepts. Right there, you’ve made $5000 profit on the older BMW and picked up a newer BMW for $7,500 below resale value – all in one deal. This example is hypothetical, but this kind of deal takes place all the time. The dollar amount doesn’t matter: it can work if the vehicle’s worth $2000, $20,000 or $200,000.
One more thing...
Depending on where you live, if you sell more than a certain number of cars per year then you may need to apply for a dealer license. If you buy and sell cars for profit part-time then you probably won’t need a license; most states and provinces allow you to sell 4 to 6 cars per year without one.
One way to sell more cars without a license is by recruiting friends or family. When you buy cars, have them register it in their names in return for a percentage of the profits. As an example, if your state or province allows 5 unlicensed sales per person per year you could buy and sell 5 cars yourself, 5 through a friend, and 5 through your spouse or partner.
However, if you plan on selling more than that it’s probably worth it to apply for a dealer’s license. The paperwork is usually straightforward, and being a licensed dealer also gives you access to more resources for buying and trading cars at wholesale prices: dealer networks, dealer-only auctions and more.
