Longines having been making watches since 1832 making it one of the oldest Swiss watchmakers. Longines uses the logo "Elegance is an attitude" and it is this attitude combined with elegant design that has produced some of the most beautiful of Swiss ladies' watches.
The Longines BelleArti
This Longines watch draws its inspiration from the Art Deco movement of the 1920s. This ladies' watch from Longines appeals to women who want grace and elegance combined with gentle touch of feminism. The stainless steel case is ultra slim and curvaceous - something best appreciated when one views the case from the side. The dial comes in black, silver or mother-of-pearl. There are eleven Arabic figures on the dial and a second subsidiary dial at 6 o'clock. Two "Cathedral" hands add to its character. Bracelets come in, black leather, stainless steel or blue-jeans (the blue-jeans bracelet is of a very contemporary and young slant but it does combine nicely with the dial and case). Some models are available with inlaid diamonds. The slight rounding on the edges of the rectangular casing lends an unmistakable feminine style to these watches. All Longines Belle Arti watches are water resistant up to 30 meters.
The Longines DolceVita
The Longines Dolce Vita collection echoes style of the 1930s with the glamour of the 1950s. The Longines watch is one of the most elegant of ladies watches. Like the Longines BelleArti, DolceVita watches are of a rectangular stainless steel case with scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass and house a L963 quartz movement. They are markedly different though as the Longines DolceVita retains a straight edge on the case. There are different colored dials to choose from, as well as leather bracelets. For those with deep pockets you can buy models with inlaid diamonds. The model I particularly like is the L5.158.0.93.6. The watch is inlaid with 28 Top Wesselton diamonds - 14 down each vertical side of the bezel. The dial is pink mother-of-pearl. The most appealing part of the watch is the heart-shaped diamond set at the 12 o'clock position. The other indices are marked by 11 other diamonds. The crown is finished in pink to finish off the look of this watch. This watch just exudes femininity. Despite being 'festooned' with diamonds it still manages to retain a restrained glamour and beauty.
The Longines Evidenza
This watch from Longines has languid lines and an effortless style. The case comes in gloss-polished stainless steel or in 18K yellow or pink gold. The Longines Evidenza's cambered-profile case features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal whose curvature underscores the case's sweeping lines. The dial is silver or black bearing period-style Arabic or Roman numerals swept by blued-metal hands. You have a choice of two bracelets to complement the watch; matching metal or high-quality brown leather, optionally with deployment clasp. Certain models are available with inlaid Top Wesselton VVS diamonds: 156 stones totaling 1.48 carats. They are water-resistant to 30 meters (100 ft).
Longines ladies' watches are amongst the most exquisite and feminine of watches. What constantly amazes me is their price. Compared to other high-end Swiss watches, the price of a Longines watch is usually lower. What this means is that most women can afford to buy a truly beautiful ladies' watch for that special occasion.
